Information for beginners
Welcome to Nothing of Note SCP RP!
This is a serious roleplay server that takes place in the SCP universe.
If you stumbled upon this server without knowing what the SCP universe is, it is highly recommended you look it up!
Before you begin playing, however, there are a few important things you need to know!
There are two main chat commands that will be very important going forwards. These two commands are used by almost every role on the server:
Almost every situation, from combat to performing electrical repairs, requires these two commands.
A /me
is used to denote an action taken by your character. Example: "/me attempts to put handcuffs onto the soldiers wrists"
would become “Class D attempts to put handcuffs onto the soldiers wrists".
A /roll
is a random number generator that goes from 0 to 100. This is used when a conflict is occurring. This conflict could be Player vs Player or Player vs World or anything else. Example: A doctor attempts to remove the bullet from a patient's arm. The doctor types /roll
and gets the following result: “Doctor has rolled 80 out of 100”. The Doctor has successfully removed the bullet.
Available Jobs
The following jobs are available to all players even without any whitelists:
- Class D
- Security Trainee
- Assistant Researcher
- SCP 131 A/B
- SCP 173
- SCP 999
In order to get more whitelists you must either get trained (For Security and Researcher) or apply on the forums (For SCPs).
Common Terminology
- Bodyblock: Using your character’s hitbox to purposefully keep other players from passing through an area
- Character Kill: The character you are playing is permanently killed. CKed players will be forced to change their RP name.
- FailRP: Failure to roleplay properly
- FearRP: If your character's life is in danger you should reflect that in your roleplay.
- Metagame: Using information gained through Out of Character means during an In Character situation
- NLR: The New Life Rule. When you die in game you are required to stay within your role's spawn for at least 3 minutes. See also: Section 7
- Powergame: Performing an unrealistic action done for your own advantage typically through a
/me
but can apply to other actions
Rules marked by a dagger (†) should be dealt with in-character before involving staff if possible.
Section 1: GENERAL RULES
- Staff make the final decision on any disagreement over RP and the rules at their discretion. If you disagree with a decision made, take it up with them or a higher-ranking staff member.
- You must always be in character unless a staff member states otherwise†
- Do not abuse loopholes in the rules.
- Do not intentionally abuse glitches.
- Do not metagame.
- Do not disconnect, change roles, suicide, or do anything else to avoid an RP situation or a member of Staff.
- Do not run from somebody while they are typing a
/me
against you. If you see someone typing and have any doubt, assume it’s a /me
.
- Do not harass any person or group of people unless in a purely roleplay context.
- Do not attempt to roleplay as any SCP or anomaly that is not actually in the server unless it is an event approved by Staff.
- Do not break doors forcing them to be unable to be opened/closed.
- Do not attempt to fake rolls.
- Do not speak about the subject of DDoSing or Doxxing under any circumstance.
- Do not powergame unless it makes sense in character.†
- You may bodyblock; however, you must move if someone succeeds in a
/me
to move you out of the way.†
- Humans must have a normal human-sounding name that is not related to a celebrity or any form of famous person.
- Names do not have to be “English” nor “European” sounding but should remain relatively simple for a native English speaker to pronounce.
- Class D's must have 4 numbers in their names and SCPs must have their SCP number in their name.
- OOC chat should be at least partially related to the server. Do not take side conversations into OOC chat.
- As this is a roleplay server you must play out your role. Such as being a loyal member of the foundation or an SCP.
- Do not attempt to roleplay as a double agent without approval from the Server Director or a higher authority.
- RP Situations can be affected by external forces (Ex: A CDRT shooting a class D attempting to disarm another CDRT).†
- When in character, speak in proper English.†
- When roleplaying an action, use
/mes
to describe what you are doing.
- Looting from a dead body is not allowed. The only exceptions are any item that drops from their hands and, if applicable, their disguise.
- Characters that are dead cannot be resurrected except through modern-day medical methods or an approved anomalous object.†
- Different characters created by you cannot interact.
- SCPs cannot open or operate the doors to the Class D Cells checkpoint unless specified.
- SCPs may not be tranquilized unless stated otherwise in their rules.†
- Tranquilizer guns may not be used in combat with the exception of allowed SCPs.
The following roles are allowed to turn the site power off: Area Director, Area Manager, Class D's, CI, TRU, MTF, SCP 035's host, SCP 049, SCP 397, SCP 912 if ordered, and AO-S14-002.
Additionally, all Foundation members as well as all mentioned above may turn the site power on.†
The following roles may use disguise kits unless approved by a Super Admin or higher:
- Class D - As any human they have killed (Please call a member of staff)
- CDRT as approved by the CDRT Captain - Only as a Class D
- CI Spies - As any Foundation member they have killed
Section 2: CHARACTER KILL (CK) RULES
A CK is a permanent death for your character. In the event that you are CKed, your character will be deleted and you will be forced to make a new one.
CKs may be authorized on any character at any time by a DvL, a Super Admin, or higher staff.
In Character suicide always counts as a CK no matter who it is that is committing suicide.
Foundation Staff may not willingly sacrifice themselves to the femur breaker. Doing so will result in a CK.
Security Commanders and higher may CK personnel beneath them within their divisions.
SDMP Sentinels and higher may CK any Foundation Staff under Level 4 that has broken a site rule with authorization from a Level 4.
Acting in a blatantly treasonous manner (ex. calling a raid on the Site to the CI) is grounds for a CK as authorized by a Captain or higher.†
Those who are the victim of a CK may appeal the decision with the Server Director or higher staff.
Victims of a CK may not return to the location of their death for 5 minutes.
The CIs and their allies may not CK for being a foundation loyalist.
Staff members should always be called when a CK is authorized or about to be carried out.
Section 3: RAID RULES
Raiding is the act of a group or individual attempting to gain access to restricted or high security areas in order to disrupt activities, steal information, rescue captured personnel, etc.
- Raids may only be conducted by CI and Foundation members†
- Raids may not last longer than 15 minutes.
- CI may only raid every 20 minutes.
- MTF and TRU may raid once every 15 minutes.
- Raiding outside of the listed cooldowns requires approval from the Server Director or higher staff.
Section 4: ROLEPLAY RULES
- You may perform a
/me
action on a group of up to 5 people at a time. This includes things like tying them up or injecting them with something.†
- You may attempt to tie someone up with a
/me
if you have an item in hand to justify it.†
- You must give 3 warning shots before shooting a hostile. These must be roleplayed out via
/me
.†
- You cannot force another player to change their name to a meme or anything that would violate the naming rules.†
- You cannot kidnap a Class D that does not meet the minimum age requirement.†
- You cannot perform any /mes while restrained. This includes SCPs as well.†
